The Assignment

Leading Derome's Group-wide ERP Procurement

Several of Derome's existing technical platforms had reached their "best before date," increasing operational risks and complicating the introduction of new, more efficient processes. This, combined with an ambition to work more uniformly across company boundaries, made a joint ERP initiative both urgent and business-critical. HerbertNathan & Co were commissioned to lead Derome's work with conducting a structured procurement of a new ERP system for large parts of the group, including Skog & Timber, Building Materials & Wood Technology, and Derome Hus. The work involved creating a comprehensive requirements specification, mapping processes and goals, and ensuring that the future solution could support both standardised flows and Derome's competitive differentiating processes. The focus was "One Derome", where data would be entered once, master data strengthened, flows designed from start to finish, and automation enabled early in the processes. The assignment also included analysis of how a modern technical platform can generate real-time information and increased transparency across the entire group.

The result

A common ERP system that drives efficiency and uniformity

The assignment resulted in a new group-wide ERP system that provides Derome with a stable foundation for a more uniform and efficient way of working going forward. By developing a target architecture for what should be included in the ERP platform – and what should be managed externally – the right conditions were created for an accurate procurement. The structured approach enabled a common set of requirements across processes, technology, and information, resulting in a solid, business-oriented basis for decisions that provided Derome with security and clear direction in the choice of future ERP platform. In parallel, the organisation was prepared for the change, which contributed to strong anchoring and high decision-making power. The project has given Derome a modernised process design, strengthened master data management, increased transparency, as well as conditions for automation across the entire value chain.

Does your company also need help with the procurement of a new ERP system?

HerbertNathan & Co helped us to analyse our business, identify and describe our processes. They were invaluable during the contract negotiations, both when it came to tactics but also small tricks that have saved (and still save) us a lot of money.
