Löfbergs is one of the Nordics' largest family-owned coffee roasters with a complex value chain spanning from raw material purchasing and production to warehousing, distribution and sales. To strengthen processes around production, logistics, finance and planning, Löfbergs needed a clear strategy and a new business system that could support both current and future business models.

HerbertNathan & Co was tasked with helping Löfbergs to develop a strategy for the company's ERP system setup, including a complete feasibility study and carrying out a procurement of a new ERP system. The work involved mapping key processes in production, raw material management, planning, purchasing, logistics, warehousing, and finance to identify deficiencies in the existing IT landscape and define future requirements. The feasibility study resulted in a specification of requirements and a clear target vision for the procurement process, where HerbertNathan & Co was responsible for managing the entire procurement — from RFP preparation and vendor dialogues to evaluation and structuring of decision support materials.
The delivery provided Löfbergs with a comprehensive and quality-assured basis for deciding which ERP system best met the business’s requirements, including traceability, batch management, and production flows that are central to the food industry. The decision material also included a preliminary and feasible schedule for procurement and implementation. The assignment resulted in a successful ERP procurement.
HerbertNathan & Co's engaging and structured way of working at a strategic level and also anchoring the intention before we started requirement specification ensured that Löfbergs received a solution that was not just an application but also a well-anchored review of processes and working methods from an End to End perspective on workflows. This overarching design was then broken down into concrete requirements for the new system solution and the vendor's implementation capability.
